Ministry to the abortion-vulnerable is challenging: it’s private and hidden; further, it’s been politicized and disconnected from the gospel, discipleship, and grace. If things are going to change, the church must pray and be equipped to lead. As someone has said, “success is when preparation meets opportunity.”

Sanctity of Human Life Sunday (SOHL Sunday) happens every year in January, marking the anniversary month of Roe v. Wade. In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark decision made abortion legal in this country. Since that decision, it is estimated that over 57 million babies have been aborted (National Right to Life/Guttmacher Institute, 2015). SOHL Sunday is an opportunity to focus our time and attention on God’s true plan and purpose for each and every human life. Since the overturn of Roe on the 24th of June 2022, we have seen a shift in our nation. While we continue to celebrate the Supreme Court’s decision, this is not the end of abortion. This simply turns the legal status of abortion back to individual states. The work of defending the unborn is far from over. Discerning Christians will continue to ask, “What should Christians be doing?” Our work is urgent. And our work is increasing as women find themselves in a storm of misinformation and political turmoil.  

Our goal for Sanctity of Human Life in January, is to help your church plan a Sanctity of Human Life Sunday Service. We have resources for you to use to plan your service. Bulletin inserts, and media resources will be provided for your use. We also encourage you to book a Pregnancy Center representative to come and share during your service.
